Jake Paul and Mike Tyson to Compete on BHOUT Boxing Bags Before Netflix Fight

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will duke it out using BHOUT boxing bags before their highly anticipated fight this fall

Before boxing legend Mike Tyson and actor-turned-fighter Jake Paul go at each other in the ring, they’ll turn their attention — and fists — toward what might be the world’s smartest boxing bags.

This week at Beyond Activ Americas, the leadership, investment and business development event for owners, managers and investors of wellness, fitness and hospitality brands, BHOUT CEO and co-founder Mauro Frota revealed that his brand recently inked a deal that will pit Paul and Tyson against each other before their fight on Netflix this November.

During the fight’s weigh-in event, Paul and Tyson will face off against each other on BHOUT’s artificial intelligence (AI) powered boxing bags. BHOUT training bags, dubbed the “boxing bags with a brain,” use sensors and computer vision with AI to track performance, improve technique, avoid injuries and in this case, compete against each other.

The bags grade or count strikes, technique, power, speed, exertion and accuracy to give users a final score. They can identify five strikes a second in terms of location, force and type of strike with over 97% accuracy, according to Bhout, making them a good measuring stick for big names in the sport like Paul and Tyson.

“We just closed, I think, is the deal of our lives, so far,” Frota said at Beyond Activ Americas.

Frota also mentioned BHOUT’s excitement for the event considering all the eyes Paul and Tyson often attract. Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, who covers both Boxing and the NBA, claimed on a Boston sports radio show that the fight itself could generate 40-50 million viewers.

With or without Paul and Tyson, BHOUT is poised for future success. The brand raised €10 million ($10.7 million) in seed funding last autumn. It also just won the KPMG Tech Innovator Award for 2024.

BHOUT’s deal with Tyson and Paul represents another sign promoting gamification’s future in fitness as well. There’s significant scientific evidence supporting the concept’s effectiveness in spurring retention and promoting a healthier lifestyle for users. Fitness brands such as Orangetheory, EGYM, Zwift and countless others have been quick to catch on
