Golianek appeared to shake from the jump when taking the barbell load on his shoulders off the squat rack. Equipped with a lifting belt, knee wraps, and wrist wraps, he took a rather wide stance, inhaled several times before locking in a stiff brace, and began his descent.

After achieving parallel, Golianek bolstered through his ascent, which appeared to stick early on. However, he never let off the gas, and slowly but surely broke through the challenging portion to achieve his lockout. He excitedly darted off the platform, knowing the record books would reflect his name.

Golianek’s record bench press appeared to be much less of a burdensome lift than his record squat. He held control of the barbell and performed his slow, yet steady, descent to his chest before launching it back to a secure press out without much of a battle beyond a slight shakiness at the outset.

The 2024 IPF World Classic & Equipped Sub-Junior & Junior Championships concluded on Aug. 8, 2024.
