All eyes are turning toward the upcoming 2024 Olympics later this summer. But before things kick off on the Olympic lifting platform this August, the best and brightest young weightlifters in the world will get their turn in the limelight.
The International Weightlifting Federation’s (IWF) 2024 Youth World Championships run from May 22 to 26 in Lima, Peru. This competition is not only the biggest event for sub-Junior weightlifters worldwide — the next summer Youth Olympics aren’t until 2026 — it’s also a sneak peek into the futures of the best barbell-wielding athletes in the world.

Expect to see many of these athletes making a bid for the next summer Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. Until then, here are the results from the 2024 IWF Youth World Championships:

From Peru to Paris
While the IWF will continue to host several regional weightlifting meets between May and July, once this year’s Youth Worlds wraps up, the next worldwide weightlifting event will take place in Paris.
